The 39 Clues: Maze of Bones

This book is good for 4th - 7th graders.

This story follows two kids named Amy and Dan Cahill.  After one of their relatives die, they have to choose their inheritance.  They either take one million dollars or the first clue to a race around the world.  Amy and Dan take the clue.  The other contestants, who are also relatives, want to win and they will do anything to win... even kill.  There are 39 clues hidden all over the world.  The winner gets a huge treasure.   Will two kids beat out everyone else?

This book has no bad language, no romance and minor violence.  The book mentions some nose piercings and tattoos.

This is a good book and I hope you enjoy it!  It is the first book in a series.

My favorite character is Amy.  She is protective and loving.

Savvy

This is a good book for fourth to eighth grade readers.

This book is about a whole family and all of their relatives who have a savvy, which is a special talent that you get when you turn thirteen.  Mibbs' is about to turn thirteen and is excited to see what her savvy is.  Her oldest brother Rocket can control electricity.  Fish, her other brother, can control the weather.  A day before Mibbs' thirteenth birthday, her dad gets in a terrible car accident. They find him unconscious and he has to be transported to a hospital in Selena.  Rocket and Mibbs' mom has to go to Salina.  She and Fish are left to take care of their younger siblings, Samson and Gypsy.  On the day of Mibbs' thirteenth birthday, she thinks her savvy is waking people or animals up from sleep.  She convinces Fish to come along with her to Salina so she can try to wake her dad up from his coma.   Their friend Will and his older sister, Bobbi, make the journey also.  They hitchhike a ride on a bus going to Salina, and become great friends with the bus driver.  When they finally make it to Salina, Mibbs' realizes her savvy might not be what she thought it was.  Did they make this trip for nothing?

This book has no violence, and no bad language. It also has minor romance.

I hope you enjoy this book, because I really loved it.

My favorite character is Fish. He is very protective and kind.

Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson is a great book to start reading in third grade, but I also know a lot of adults who have read it and loved it.

This book is about a twelve year old boy who finds out he is a demigod, which is half human and half greek god.  Up until then, he lived a normal life as a middle school boy.  Percy has ADHD and dyslexia.    After his teacher turns into a creature called a fury, which is a a servant of the greek god Hades, he knows he is not normal.  To make it even tougher, Percy finds out his best friend Grover is actually a Satyer, a half goat half man sent out to protect demigods.  Grover tells Percy that Hades has found him, and he has to go to a protective camp for demigods, called Camp Half-blood.  Percy, along with his mom and Grover run to Camp Half-blood, when a centaur attacks Percy's mom and kills her.  In this first book, Percy goes with Grover and his new friend Annabeth, to Hades to get his mom back.  Also Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy thinks Hades took it.  If it is not returned by midnight, on the summer solstice,  Zeus will declare war.

This book has no bad language, and minor violence.  Also it has very minor romance.

I hope you enjoy this book.  It's one of my favorites!

My favorite character is Annabeth. She is the strongest and smartest.  She also knows how to kill all the monsters they face.
